English bulldogs love to chew. That’s perfectly fine when they chew their toys, but it becomes a problem when your furniture and clothes are suddenly chewed to pieces. Thankfully, there are ways to stop your English bulldog from chewing and protect the items in your home.
Puppy-proof your home
When you first adopt a English bulldog puppy, you’ll need to puppy-proof your home. Put away any items you don’t want your English bulldog chewing, such as jewelry, toys, books, electronics, and clothes. You may even have to restrict your puppy to certain areas of the home until they’re properly trained.
Give them toys
English bulldogs will start chewing your items when they don’t have any of their own to chew. Providing chew toys will allow your bulldogs to chew without ruining your home. However, not all chew toys are created equal. You’ll want to find ones that can withstand a beating, as English bulldogs have strong jaws.
Entertain them
Sometimes, dogs chew because they’re bored. Keep your English bulldog entertained throughout the day so they won’t take their boredom out on your new sofa. Take them for walks, provide toys, play with them, and more.
Take them to obedience training
Obedience training can help ensure your dog doesn’t misbehave. We highly recommend every dog goes through some sort of training, even if they don’t have a chewing problem. Doing so will be easier for both you and your pup.
