Many people emphasize the importance of physical exercise for your English bulldog, but what about mental exercise? Mentally stimulating your English bulldog is just as important as physically stimulating them. Unfortunately, too few owners take this extra step, leaving their pups bored and listless. Don’t be one of them! Follow some of these tips to keep your English bulldog sharp for many years more.
Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt helps your pup work their mind while also getting a nice treat at the end. Hide one of their favorite toys or treats somewhere in the house or backyard. Then, let your pup run loose and try to find it. Keep doing this until your English bulldog is tuckered out.
Food Puzzle Games
Food puzzles have you place a treat or piece of food in a toy such as a kong and makes your pup work to get it out. This will keep them occupied for hours on end!
Obstacle Course
An obstacle course may take a little extra time to set up, but we promise you it’ll be worth it! Place various toys or treats around the room and then use pillows and/or furniture to create the obstacle course. Let your pup loose and see how long it takes for them to get each treat!
Teach Tricks
Despite the saying, you can teach an old dog new tricks. And teaching a young or old dog new tricks is a great way to exercise their brain! Not sure which tricks to teach them? Here are a few to get you started.
With these exercises, your English bulldog should be physically and mentally stimulated. If you’re thinking about adopting an English bulldog into your family, then be sure to contact Bulldog Angels today at 785-294-0209.
